VOICES FOR A UNITED WORLD OF CREATIVITY

Creativity has never known boundaries. But there have always been limits. Today, thanks to digitisation and new technologies, crossing the line seems to be easier than ever before: the creative sectors are moving closer together and new opportunities arise at the intersection of creativity, technology and business. Imagine, the innovative power we could reach if we would unify the creativity across all sectors and all regions… THE ARTS+ connects the dots and brings together the world(s) of creativity to unleash its full potential and to answer pressing questions for the creative industries and beyond.

Within the official opening of THE ARTS+ we will hear different voices from politics and the creative sector sharing with us their personal vision of a united world of creativity.

▪ PROF. PETER WEIBEL, Artist, Curator Arts & Media Theorist, Centre for Art & Media

THE ARTS+ INNOVATION SUMMIT FOR THE CREATIVE SECTORS

Website: https://theartsplus.com/_2017/summit/
What are the best ways to support innovation in the creative industries? New technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, 3-D printing and big data can trigger innovation at all levels of the creative sectors. This can include innovative products, services and processes, a new business model or organizational culture, and much more besides. At present, it seems that all the players in the industry are grappling with the innovation challenge on their own. But how would the situation look if there was a wider European innovation support network – one that cut transaction costs and boosted the creative sectors to a higher, digital level?
In a small yet influential gathering, the Innovation Summit will establish a core working group: a European network of diverse individuals and institutions, ranging from policymakers and researchers, to industry players and intermediaries such as cluster organisations and trade associations.
The event will explore the best ways to provide support for tech-based innovation in the creative sectors, at both national and European levels. And it will lay the ground for a high-ranking policy summit in 2018.

In short 3-minute elevator pitches, these organisations will present their funding programmes. Following these eight pitches, the audience is invited to sit down with the various presenters to talk about their projects, network and share experiences. BEYOND SHOPPING: WHY MUSEUM STORES AND CONCEPT STORES ARE AT THE FOREFRONT OF RETAIL

Experience is everything. This is also true in the brick-and-mortar-business which is increasingly competing with online retail. Museum and concept stores are not only part of the whole museum experience – they are often an experience themselves. That potentially makes them one-step-ahead other shop concepts.
But what makes museum and concept stores special? And what has the focus on cultural goods got to do with it? Could museum shops and concept stores become a role model for the brick-and-mortar business? And if so, what do they do to accommodate an ever-shifting audience and marketplace?
This session provides a behind-the-scenes look at the (future) concepts of museum and concept stores, and shares insights on how they select and showcase their products.
