Prof. Dr. Canaj was Vice Rector at the University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova and is professor for Foreign Language Learning and Digital Education. She was Head of Higher Education Department at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. She was responsible for drafting HE Law in Kosovo and establishing Accreditation Agency and very active in supporting HEI in Kosovo. She was coordinator of Higher Education Reform Experts from 2010-2015. She was visiting Professor at the University of Graz, University of Innsbruck and Technical University of Berlin. For nearly 25 years, she has collaborated with institutions of higher education, businesses, non – profit organizations, and governmental entities in different regions of the world. She was awarded for her MA –Thesis with the price of the University and then she has Bertha Suttner Stipendium for her PhD. She was professor at the University of Prishtina and University of Graz. She studied at University of Prishtina, University of Heidelberg, University of Graz, her PhD at University of Vienna and her Post Doc at University of Berlin (TU Berlin). She was Head of German Department at the University of Prizren, Faculty of Philology. Associate Professor for German as Foreign Language and Linguistics.
She translated the book – Einführung in die Translationswissenschaft ins Albanische.
She published different books and more than 100 research articles in different Research Journals.
Her professional experience is in the field of German as Foreign Language, Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Multilingualism, Language Policy, Gender Policy, Teacher Professional Development; Teaching Policy and Teaching Methodic & Teaching Technics and Digital Education.
Since 2000 she worked as a Consultant in the field of education and foreign language learning for International Organisations, UN, IOM; OSCE, UNESCO and Government. She is a member of „Editorial Advisory Board – “International Journal of Teaching & Education” since June 2014, member of “European Association for Language Testing and Assessment” (ELTA) since September 2016, and member of “Internationalen Vereinigung der Germanistik (IVG) since September 2018. She is a reviewer in different important scientific journals that are indexed on ELSVERE, SCOPUS; etc. She is a professional editor in the Journals of IISES and the Europäische Beiträge zur Angewandeten Germanistik. She is a reviewer by AJESS – Asian Journal of Education and Social Studies; JESBS – Journal of Education, Society and Behavioural Science. She is in the research Board of Europäische Beiträge zur Angewandten Linguistik, Berlin
