The Institut de la Llengua i la Cultura de les Illes Balears (ILLENC) is an organisation created and financed by the government of the Balearic Islands. It was set up with the aim of promoting local language and culture and supporting any form of art, including music, cinema and literature. In particular, it promotes the Catalan language, organising courses, including on-line, and workshops intended for young children.

The Office for the Promotion of Spanish Books, Reading and Literature is under the direct control of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and carries out the following functions: promotion and diffusion abroad of Spanish books and literature; safeguarding and definition of the legal scheme regarding books and reading among the public (with due regard for the Autonomous Communities); promotion and diffusion of books nationally through grants, campaigns to promote reading and participation in national and international trade fairs. The Office also represents the Spanish ISBN agency.
